2023 South Carolina Legislative Summary

Tom Davis, South Carolina District-46 State Senator, was our First Thursday speaker in August. He presented his summary of the 2023-2024 legislation passed by the SC General Assembly and the 2023-2024 SC General Assembly Budget.

Sen. Davis shared with us that this is the 7^th time he has spoken to the GIC since becoming a state senator in 2009. He also shared the following overarching principles that guide how he represents his constituents:

• Individual liberties as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the US Constitution (religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition).
• Keep taxes low. Return money to taxpayers. The private sector is better with money than the public sector.
