About Us

The Greater Island Council of Hilton Head Island and Bluffton (GIC) is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-commercial association of active and involved citizens who advocate for initiatives and policies that impact our community by collaborating with regional partners at the town, county, and state levels. We are an independent organization with over 75 members solely funded by member dues.

Our members participate by serving on one or more GIC committees which provide forums for GIC members and non-members to research, discuss, and advocate constructive outcomes regarding policies and initiatives that impact the quality of life in our region. We collaborate with regional leaders and partners by inviting them to speak with our organization, participating in regional forums, and by drafting formal resolutions consistent with our priorities and our values.

GIC Action Committees

The GIC Action Committees are the principal vehicles through which the GIC identifies key issues, focuses on potential improvements, and encourages constructive changes. These committees explore issues of importance to the community, take steps to encourage sound policies and constructive actions, and deliver tangible outcomes. We encourage GIC members and non-members with expertise in our study areas to become involved in the committee process. Currently, we need community support on the following committees. Use the links below to learn more about the committees or click here to contact us.

Enriching the lives of area residents through a desire to preserve, protect and improve the quality of life for all who call the Lowcountry their home. The GIC partners with other organizations to unite, support, and enhance our shared community beliefs.
